☐ Recite Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiʿoon (“To Allah we belong, and to Him we return”).
☐ Contact doctor / GP or, if unexpected, call 999.
☐ Confirm death (doctor / medical professional).Register Death and Legal Certification
☐ Gently close eyes and mouth; tie a soft band under chin.
☐ Straighten limbs, loosen tight clothes, and cover with clean cloth.
☐ Position body (if feasible) with head toward Qiblah.
☐ Inform close family / next of kin. There will probably be more people to tell about the death than you expect. Will be hard to think of everyone. May need to access deceased phone contacts.
☐ Make two lists:
- One for personal e.g. family/friends/work colleagues and
- Another for professional e.g. financial organisations/insurance companies/solicitor/accountant/financial advisor.
☐ Contact local mosque / Islamic funeral team for guidance.Coroner
☐ Maintain dignity and privacy: keep area cool and ventilated.
