About Journey Back to Allah

Journey Back to Allah (journeybacktoallah.uk) is a practical, non-profit resource dedicated to helping UK Muslim families navigate bereavement, Islamic funeral rites, and necessary legal and administrative steps.

Inclusive Guidance for Everyone

While this resource is primarily tailored to address Islamic funeral rites and religious duties, many of the administrative, legal, and financial checklists are universal across the UK. Whether you are of another faith or no faith, you are very welcome to use the practical guides—such as registering a death, coroner procedures, probate, Land Registry updates, and grief support.

Why This Guide Was Created

Managing affairs after a loved one passes away can be deeply stressful, overwhelming, and confusing. During such emotional times, families often struggle to find clear, step-by-step guidance that covers both religious obligations and UK legal requirements.

This resource was born out of personal experience, with help from my family, after navigating the loss of both my father in 2001 and my mother in 2025. Reflecting on these life-changing events and assisting with numerous funerals over the years, I realised that while many websites cover basic burial logistics, very few encompass the complete journey—from immediate hospital procedures to legal, financial, and emotional support.

I created this comprehensive guide to ease the burden on others during their most challenging moments.

Our Purpose

Our goal is to serve as a compassionate, single source of clarity for grieving families by providing:

  • Practical UK Legal & Administrative Checklists: Step-by-step guidance on registrar procedures, coroner decisions, probate, Land Registry updates, and rules of intestacy.
  • Authentic Islamic Rites Guidance: Clear instructions for Ghusl (ritual washing), Kafan (shrouding), Janazah (funeral prayer), and Daffan (burial).
  • Holistic Support: Compassionate advice on coping with grief, helping children through loss, and navigating family dynamics after a passing.
